FAQs

Do I need a referral before commencing Physiotherapy?

No. As Physio is a primary contact profession you can make an appointment as a private client. Some clients are eligible for part reimbursement through Medicare schemes that do require a GP to provide a referral in order to claim.

Yes, if you have private health cover that includes extras your fund will attract a rebate for your session. How much your fund covers each session and over the course of a year depends on your membership tier and choice of fund. Most health funds have these details on their website.

Packages of care allow us to pass on savings to you by paying up front rather than as you go. This may be done after the first session providing you are happy with your assessment and plan of care for your issue. As a Regulated Healthcare Provider we are not allowed to recommend any therapy that you do not reasonably require. There is no obligation nor pressure with our packages, they allow us to provide high quality care at great value to our clients.

All of the things you would usually associate with physio, such as joint pain and muscle and tendon issues. We have a chronic and complex focus so we generally do not focus on sports injuries or acute orthopaedic issues in the under 40’s.

We manage conditions like osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, dizziness ans other vestibular issues, chronic and complex musculoskeletal conditions.

We use a variety of techniques based upon your individual needs. These are gentle and designed to protect the injured area whilst allowing the surrounding muscles and joints to be comfortable to take appropriate load. This may include gentle manual therapy, taping and bracing, and therapeutic exercise prescription.

We supply home visits to clients who have difficulty with mobility or transport in the Blue Mountains. Some clients require home-based care due to contextual reasons (for example setting up a home-based program or for falls prevention).

In Step provides Gerontological Physio services that are targeted to holistic lifestyle quality as we age. This doesn’t limit therapy to the over 65’s but it has a focus on preventing issues that if left untended can cause issues as we age. Our main focus is on issues that have not been successful with routine therapy – for example, if there hasn’t been optimal gains from old injuries or aches or pains. This includes chronic and complex conditions which may require a different approach to more traditional therapy.
